When activated, this equipment emitted a violent dampening wave that damaged nearby hostile vessels and gave off radiation. In cooperation with the Klingon Defense Force and the Romulan Republic Navy, the three science-oriented dreadnought classes Yorktown, Gorkon-class battlecruiser, and Flambard-class dreadnought warbird were equipped with the dampening wave emitter. It became the prototype of the Yorktown-class science star cruiser. The Yorktown was rebuilt into a science-oriented star cruiser and recommissioned as the USS Yorktown (NCC-98300). The Starfleet Corps of Engineers recovered the wrecks.
